Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards is organized biannually and the process is coordinated in four stages comprising: application, pre-evaluation, rewarding and presentation.
Application: Application requirements and dates for the award are published in the Internet site of the organization. Applications are done on the internet.
Pre-evaluation: The international jury composed of 30 members evaluates the entries on the internet, carries out the pre-evaluation process by voting according suitability to the scope of the awards, application requirements, and originality criteria.
Rewarding: Owners of products that pass the pre-evaluation stage are invited by the award secreteriat to submit their products to the award evaluation and exhibition which take place in İstanbul. Prior to opening of the exhibition, the juries formed based on various product sectors evaluate the exhibited items and decide on the awards. For those products which cannot be exhibited in the exhibition hall because of their size, the jury will examine their scaled models and/or large photographs.
Presentation: Awards are announced to the press and public through an award ceremony on the opening day of the exhibition, which is the next day of the evaluation. Exhibition is open to the public, press establishments, public institutions, manufacturing companies, and high level representatives of business life together with all actors of design world. Together with the exhibition a conference is organized where academicians and professionals with national and international respectability, are invited and where updated information and approaches are shared. The exhibited designs are published in the Design Turkey Exhibiton Catalogue and on the website. Following the exhibition in Istanbul, award-winning designs and their designers are publicised in the Design Turkey Award Winning Designs Catalogue.
